KQ-1118 · FADER/SWEEP

Fader Sweep

A bank of vertical faders joined by a smooth curve that you paint in one stroke: draw across the bank and every fader you pass takes the height where the stroke crossed it, the ones a fast stroke skips catching up on the flick spring, each playing a note pitched by its value so the sweep is heard as the shape it drew. Grab a knob instead and that one fader follows 1:1, rubber-bands past its ends and settles on the glide spring with the release velocity, while the brush's smoothing relaxes painted faders into a smooth contour behind the finger. Every fader is a vertical slider in one roving tab stop: Up and Down step it, Page keys, Home and End jump, Left and Right move between faders, and Shift with Left or Right carries the value along like a stroke.

Props

value / defaultValue
number[]
default all 0
One value per band, each between -range and +range. Controlled or uncontrolled; an array of another length is resampled by relative position to the band count.
onValueChange
(value: number[]) => void
default —
Fires from the stroke, drag or key that changed the bank, with every band quantized to step. While a stroke is live the host's echoes are ignored; on release the faders settle on whatever the host says.
bands
number
default 7
How many faders, 2 to 10. The values are resampled to the new count so the shape survives, and the faders glide to it.
smoothing
number
default 0.35
How soft the paint brush is, 0 to 1. At 0 each fader keeps exactly the height the stroke gave it; higher, faders behind the finger relax toward their painted neighbours and untouched faders beyond the stroke feather toward it. The fader under the finger is never smoothed.
curve
boolean
default true
Draw the smooth response curve through the knobs, over a faint fill down to 0.
range
number
default 12
How far each fader reaches either side of 0. The scale labels follow it and values outside it are shown clamped.
step
number
default 0.5
The value's resolution and one arrow key's move.
label
string
default "Equalizer"
The bank's accessible name.
labels
string[]
default —
One name per band, printed under it and used as its accessible name. Defaults to log-spaced frequencies from 63 Hz to 16 kHz.
format
(value: number) => string
default —
A band's spoken value, its aria-valuetext. Defaults to "Boosted by 3 decibels", "Cut by 1.5 decibels" or "Flat".
sound
boolean
default false
Play a note per fader as the stroke catches it and as a moving fader crosses a scale step, pitched by value on a pentatonic scale and panned to its place. Nothing plays, and no audio context exists, unless this is on.
disabled
boolean
default false
Dims the bank, takes it out of the tab order and ignores strokes.
className
string
default —
Merged onto the root's classes.
